The Batad Rice Terraces, located in Ifugao, Philippines, are a stunning example of ancient agricultural engineering and a UNESCO World Heritage site, renowned for their breathtaking amphitheater-like structure and rich cultural heritage.

Bangaan Rice Terraces is one of the 5 rice terraces included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995, alongside Batad Rice Terraces, Hungduan Rice Terraces, Mayoyao Rice Terraces, and Nagacadan Rice Terraces. It is also labeled as a Living Cultural Landscape as the village still retains a few of the traditional Ifugao houses called bale (ba-leh). Bangaan is approximately 2 kilometers farther from the junction road going to Batad. While on the road, you will see a panoramic view of Bangaan’s green terraces, which is a perfect spot for snapping a wide shot. If you look from a certain angle, you will notice that the amphitheater-like terraces surrounding the small village actually looks like a ‘banga’ or a jar, from which its name was derived from.

The Nagacadan Rice Terraces are one of the five clusters of the Ifugao Rice Terraces, which are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the Rice Terraces of the Philippine Cordilleras. This site is located in the municipality of Kiangan in Ifugao Province, Philippines. The Nagacadan terrace cluster is characterized by its unique design, which includes two distinct ascending rows of terraces bisected by a river. These terraces are a testament to the Ifugao people's ingenuity and their ability to adapt to the challenging topography of the region. The terraces are not only a source of food but also a symbol of the Ifugao culture and heritage.

Mayoyao Rice Terraces is a living cultural landscape that has continuously been used and preserved for over 2,000 years. The rice terraces are a testament to the engineering skills of the Ifugao people, who carved the terraces into the mountains using only hand tools and without the use of draft animals. The Ifugao people have a rich cultural heritage closely tied to the rice terraces. The rice terraces are not only a source of food and livelihood for the Ifugao people, but they also have spiritual and cultural significance. The Ifugao people believe that the rice terraces were built by their ancestors and are a gift from their gods. The rice terraces symbolize the Ifugao people’s resilience and ingenuity in adversity.

The Rice Terraces of the Philippine Cordilleras, including the Hungduan Rice Terraces, gained recognition on the UNESCO World Heritage List due to their exceptional cultural significance and remarkable preservation of agricultural and engineering knowledge. UNESCO World Heritage designation confirms the importance of these terraces as an outstanding example of a living cultural landscape. The site is celebrated for its sustainable and ancient irrigation system that has been maintained through traditional conservation practices. Furthermore, the heritage village of Hungduan is integral to understanding the history and the social structure that has allowed these terraces to function not only as agricultural feats but also as symbols of community and identity.

Hidden behind the Batad terraces, Tappiyah Falls drops approximately 60 metres into a crystal-clear natural pool surrounded by lush jungle. The trail from Batad village winds through working rice paddies and offers stunning views along the way.

Tenogtog Falls is a stunning natural attraction located in Mayoyao, Ifugao Philippines. It features three natural pools that cascade approximately 12 meters apart, creating a beautiful, serene environment. Visitors can enjoy a scenic hike to the falls, which about 5 kilometers from Downtown Mayoyao, accessible via tricycle or local transportation.

At roughly around 1,100 meters above sea level (MASL), the Matangili Rock Formation boasts of a stunning 360 degree view deck which of course showcases the awe-inspiring views of neighboring barangays like barangay Panopdopan’s rice fields, pasture lands of Mabatobato, the Lamut River, vast plains of Bagabag, Tuao and Villaverde all in Nueva Vizcaya when facing East, lush green forests of Asipulo in the North and the rolling hills of Lagawe and Hingyon when facing Westwards. Some hiking enthusiasts who have visited the Matangili Rock Formation who utilized both the Ocapon – Ampocol – Regimental and Regimental – Matangili routes consider the difficulty level of the hike at about 4/10 - but of course this depends on the weather.

Newly developed and discovered on April 2020 is a new tourist site or destination in Kiangan, Ifugao which is Mt. Puluy or Puluy Hideout. Mt. Puluy is a part of the Philippine history, in connection to the historical events of Yamashita and the end of the World War II. It was considered the warzone area of the Japanese and American soldiers during the World War II. Evidences and traces of fox holes and tunnels are still existing there leaving a historical sight and memories of the past to all visitors. And it is now transformed into a beautiful place for refreshment and relaxation.

This tourist destination is perfect for hikers and nature lovers. To reach the area, travelers need to hike for 45 minutes to an hour, depending on travelers' pace. The way to the mountain is passable by motorcycle; however, it is always lovely to engage with nature as you embrace its beauty and feel the cold breeze of the air. One of the hidden beauties of Mt. Atugu is its majestic sunrise. The sun starts to rise around 5:00 to 5:30 am in summer, and 6:00 am during the rainy season. If you are lucky, you can witness a breathtaking sea of clouds.

One of Luzon’s grandest mountains, Mt. Napulauan (or Napulawan, meaning “whitened” in the Tuwale language) is situated in Hungduan, Ifugao. It stands at a towering height of 2642 MASL, making it the 15th highest mountain in the Philippines. It is considered as one of the Great Cordillera Traverse, with three available trails going to the summit – the most common trail is the Hungduan Trail which we took in our ascent, the Hapao Trail which showcases the UNESCO-preserved rice terraces of Hapao, and the Balentimol Trail which has two grand waterfalls and a very dangerous narrow trail en route to it. We took the Balentimol Trail as our exit point.

At 2,702 metres above sea level, Mount Amuyao is one of the highest peaks in the Cordillera. The trail passes through pine forests to dense mossy cloud forest draped in orchids and ferns, rewarding trekkers with a panoramic view on clear mornings.

The Kiangan National Shrine also known as the Yamashita Shrine is a war memorial in Kiangan, Ifugao, Philippines. It commemorates the surrender of the top commander of Japanese Imperial Army in the Philippines General Tomoyuki Yamashita to the Allied forces, which led to the end of the Japanese occupation of the archipelago during World War II.

The 1,000 steps was constructed in February 2009. The area, known as the Municipal Eco Park – 1,000 steps, is Alfonso Lista’s first tourist attraction. The eco park was established vis-à-vis the greening program to increase the watershed on this side of the Magat Dam. It became popular for trekking activity, panoramic viewing and photoshoots. During the cold months, it is spectacular to view a sea of clouds and experience thick fog from the top of 1,000 Steps.1

Maris wetlands is the sanctuary of thousands of egrets, herons, the migratory tufted ducks and endemic Philippine ducks. The Birdwatching Site has been the venue of the annual Asian Waterbird Census (AWC) for the Maris wetlands since 2013. This is the premier birdwatching site of the province of Ifugao- one best place to commune with nature in a unique landscape. It is also an ideal place for sunrise and sunset viewing, picnics and photoshoots.

The picnic area is adjacent the two main ports/ fish landing used by fisherfolks and communities of Sitio Erosion, Brgy. Namnama, and those from Halag area. This has been the picnic ground for locals and visiting friends and relatives who want a closer view of the rear side of the Magat Dam. There are 10 small umbrella sheds and two trade posts / halls which are being utilized for meetings / trainings by groups from ALista and the neighboring towns and provinces.

The Or-olong ridge is a scenic hiking spot in the Philippines located in Chumang, Mayoyao, Ifugao. It is known for its stunning panoramic views and is sometimes referred to as the nose of a sleeping beauty due to its shape.

The newly recognized highest point in the Philippine highway system is located in Gui’ing-aw, Barangay Eheb, Tinoc, at an elevation of 7,968 feet (2,429 meters), surpassing the previous record held by Kilometer 53 in Cattubo, Atok, Benguet at 7,400 feet (2,255 meters) above sea level. This point lies along the Kiangan–Tinoc–Buguias Road, near the shoulder of Mount Tabaok, offering scenic views of the Cordillera mountains
